“Big Fish” is a string of whoppers – all woven together by Edward Bloom — in true American storytelling fashion. The film stars Albert Finney as the elder Bloom, who embellishes, emblazons and emboldens his experiences, to the growing irritation of his son. The film is a sterling example of a small southern hometown and the man who believed he didn’t want to become a Big Fish in a small pond. The film reminded me of a Forest Gump type story.

The DVD is loaded wiith some nice extras including about half a dozen or so featurettes about the making of the film. You can also watch the film, while listening to an audio commentary by the film’s director, Tim Burton. The film is a good watch, and one that may prove thought provoking about how little children actually know about their fathers.
