The camp is quite impressive —helicopters, a missile launcher, even a submarine. But when the parents arrive to visit their "young boy," the camp is transformed into a typical vacation camp.
The intrigue starts when the leader of the camp, disillusioned with how the CIA has treated him, defects.
A top secret mind-control device has been stolen, and Cody Banks gets his first mission: go to London undercover and get it back. His disguise is a professional clarinet player in a children's youth orchestra, which will perform before the Queen of England. The only problem is that he doesn't really know how to play the clarinet.
He gets introduced to a variety of gadgets, one of which is a retainer for his teeth, which also allows him to listen in on conversations. He complains, "James Bond gets an Aston Martin, but I just get this retainer!"
The villain’s goal is to control the world. Not quite original, but his method is somewhat unique — implant a tooth in the different presidents and heads of state, and the implant will control their every action.
Joining in the action are Emily (played by Hannah Spearritt, best known for her performance in S Club 7) and Derek (played by Anthony Anderson). Derek works for the CIA and Emily works for the British Intelligence. The plot thickens when the villain implants a tooth into the agents' mouths. Some of the dialogue and action are quite funny, though a bit juvenile. This film is definitely made with the Middle School target audience in mind.
The film features nice views of London and it reminded me somewhat of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's film ,"Winning London." It also had some elements of Amanda Bynes' film, “What a Girl Wants” and a lot of “Die Another Day” stuff. The film wasn't that original, except for the tooth scheme; maybe it should have been titled "The Man With The Golden Tooth."
“Agent Cody Banks II, Destination London” is a good family film.
If you enjoyed the first Agent Cody Banks films, you should really enjoy this film. Agent Cody Banks, played by Frankie Muniz, is in a CIA summer camp. His parents believe he is just having a fun time at the camp, and don't know that he is actually in training to become one of the top operatives for the CIA.
